Rustic Arctic Farm
This rustic Arctic farm filming location will transport your viewers back to a simpler time with its gray log buildings and surrounding forest.
Not far from the town of Ranua lies the Hervanvaara farm, complete with several log buildings and access to nearby wilderness. In summer, this idyllic farm allows filmmakers to step into the past, to an era before electricity* or running water. The farm’s buildings are all wooden, unpainted and grayed with age but still well-maintained. In summer, this could be a traditional farmhouse almost anywhere in northern Europe.
In winter, however, the farmhouse is transformed as heavy snow blankets the buildings and crowns the trees of the surrounding forest in white fluff. An added bonus: the snow helps cover up pesky anachronisms that might be hiding in the frame.
* Hervanvaara is still an electricity-free filming location.
