Sometimes called blockfields or stone runs, these geological marvels feature stones and boulders spread over vast distances, up and across fells (or Arctic hills). In winter, stone fields are often covered in snow, but in summer, they are a stark contrast to the greens and browns of Lapland wilderness. You’ll find stone fields in various locations across Lapland, often in association with fells, and usually north of the Arctic Circle.
