In Lapland, the industrial sector has a turnover of 9.2 billion € and companies employ a total of 16 700 people, which means that one-quarter of all jobs in Lapland are in industrial sectors. Industrial activity is also on the rise, with the largest growth in net sales in mining, forestry, and logging.
Lapland’s exports are worth 4,3 billion €, or 7% of Finland’s total exports. Lapland’s exports are driven by industry, with 90% of exports coming from the industrial sectors. This chapter does not take into account tourism, which is also a significant international trade in Lapland.
